Days Of The Dead – Chicago – 2016

Horror returned to Chicago in November as we attended the last convention of the year!!  The show that has became Monsters From The Basement’s favorite convention set up shop in the windy city for a fun filled weekend of horror, rock and roll and great fun!! Scroll down to see what a good time we had!!!

Now, Chicago is an 8 hour drive from where I live, but it is well worth it to me to make the long trip each year. Getting to see my horror friends, meet great guests and hopefully find a few cool items for my collection makes it worth it.

Fans were hanging out in the lobby on Friday before the show started.

I like getting to conventions on the Thursday before the show. That way you can hang out with friends and catch up with everyone before the con begins.  Thursday when I got there I hung out with some of the other early birds and went to the DOTD Kick Off Party at a local bar. Great fun!

The show started on Friday afternoon. After picking up my pass, the first thing I did was to go get in line for Alice Cooper. This guy was my introduction to rock and roll music in the very early 70’s. I have seen him live 20 times and he is one of the few veteran rockers out there that sounds just as good now as he did in the early days. Despite his stage character “Alice”, he is a very nice guy and he is always very funny when you talk to him!

The second person I wanted to meet was Shannon Elizabeth. She has been in many great movies as well as TV shows.  Her credits include America Pie, Scary Movie, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and she also did a voice over for King Of The Hill. Such a beautiful lady.

Felissa Rose has become a regular at the DOTD shows. She is always so cheerful and out going and the fans just love her. I can never get enough pictures with her. If you get a chance to meet her, do so!

Another pic with Felissa getting photo bombed by DOTD’s Bill.

Kristy Swanson was in the movie Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dude Where’s My Car? and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off plus a ton of other movie and television credits. She is just as lovely as ever!

Kristy looking so cute on Sunday morning. I was able to get an interview with Kristy and I will be posting it very soon here on Monsters From The Basement!

If you are a fan of movies from the 80’s (and who isn’t right?), you know this guy, Judge Reinhold. Movies such as Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Beverly Hills Cop and the TV show Seinfeld were just some of this guys credits.  He was very personable to me and it was great to get to meet him!

Caroline Williams from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was on hand to meet with the fans.  She is another lady with a delightful personality. I have to stop by and talk to her at any show she is at.

Mark Patton from Nightmare On Elm St 2 and Come Back To The Five & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean was another guest for the weekend. Great guy to talk to. He slipped on a Freddy glove for this photo!

It is always great to get to meet a wrestling legend and DOTD has always had some great ones. Here I am with Marty Jannetty!

And of course DOTD regulars were at the show as well…..

Amy is one of the regular DOTD cos-players. She puts hours of work into each and everyone of her costumes. I always look forward to seeing what she is going to bring to each show, like this mermaid.

Another one of Amy’s costumes.

Amy as The Alien Queen, my personal favorite of hers!

So much work goes into the fans costumes they create. They all are very talented in what they do!

And as always there were many displays and vendors…..

I can’t say enough to express how much I enjoy each and every Days Of The Dead show I attend. The friends that I have made at these shows have become family and I look forward to seeing them at each show and love meeting the guests they bring.

Thank you guys for an amazing 2016, looking forward to seeing what you bring us fans in 2017!!
